I give up!

OK! So I finally posted about last year
and I was still planning on catching up on a few more blogs,
but now I just give up.

The reason being is that there is just way too many things going on right now!
Life is SO busy.
I am 3 months behind in Asher's baby book as well.
Honestly, I used to be so good about writing in there,
but I've really fallen off the wagon.

It was literally yesterday that Asher was 8 months old
then 9 months
now 10 months old.

I think I have been having so much fun with this age
(really from 7 or 8 months)
That time is just flying by!
Remember how those first few months just dragged on?
Man, that was one major adjustment.

OK, so what is going on now?

1. I dropped Drew off at the Surgery Center of Reno this morning
He is getting two surgeries knocked off at once.
One on his nose (previous trauma that has caused him breathing troubles all his life)
and he is also getting his tonsils out!
I am such a bad wife really, I just dropped him off
I wanted to stay with him and wish I would be there today,
but I'm at home letting Asher take a much needed nap
and I've been meeting/ calling contractors to paint our new house
and I've been running around gathering documents
and any other item for our lender to try and close by next week

which brings me to item number 2

We are buying a house!
It is so unreal how fast this all happened
I am such a cautious buyer even with little things like a shirt
We put an offer in on a house (short sale) in February
It really did not take us long to find a house we loved
Even though we looked at plenty of houses
the one we wanted was the second house we ever looked at.
Drew talked me in to looking at houses (I wanted to wait and save more)
only because he and our real estate agent told  me
that the short sale process could take anywhere from 2-12months

Making a long story short
We are probably going to live in Reno forever
Buying a house is not too much more than renting these days
The bank accepted our offer
We did a structural and pest control inspection last Wednesday, the 28th
Our inspector is amazing! He spent so much time with me
since he is a friend from the dentist's office!
So far, I have loved every person we have worked with.

We met this Monday with our lender to sign loan docs
We are trying to close by April 13th
which is CRAZY fast
and it's been a scramble to make sure everything goes smoothly

For some reason there is always a jag with closing on short sales
Ours came in the form of exposed wood
that the appraiser stated needed to be addressed before we could close
(since we are going with a FHA loan)
So, guess what I have been doing the last few days
Spending every spare minute on the phone back and forth
with our agent
with the lender
with contractors collecting bids

We choose Mike Whitlock who not only gave me the most competitive bid,
but also told me he could have the painting done by this Monday
Amazing!
We were going to have to scrape, sand, prime, and paint anyway
the only thing is we were going to try to do a lot of the work ourselves,
but this way we get it done and out of the way.
I am excited about that!

Remember Drew? Oh yeah, I almost forgot he is at the surgery center
in the midst of all this madness
(Did I mention that I am packing up our apartment at the same time)
I am getting so stressed already.
My body revolts!
Ok, so poor Drew is getting NO attention from me
even though I desperately want to be in the surgery center with him now
On a happy note, his mom is coming to stay the weekend with us
and help nurse Drew so I can focus on Asher and the house
and packing and cleaning the two houses.

Pictures to come soon

P.S. Asher is 10 1/2 months old
He took his first steps on April 1, 2012!
Two days later he stood up by himself
(without pulling himself up on any furniture)
He is also getting his two front teeth right now
and still sleeping great
I am happy that teething isn't bothering as much this time around!

Christmas 2011

Asher's First Christmas!

December started out a little rocky
First, I was sick
then Asher got a horrible bacterial infection
he had to go to the hospital to get his blood drawn.
It was a HORRIBLE experience for both of us.
The nurse had to reinsert the neddle a couple of times
and kept digging and digging in his arm (his arm's so chubby).
I could hardly stand it, but Asher was put on an antibiotic
and all was better....

...until he started teething
this was all during the two weeks before Christmas
and I was up with him most nights it seemed.
One tooth popped through before Christmas
and the other one the week after

Christmas came and we went down to Gardnerville
to visit Grandma and Grandpa and Great Grandma's House.

Here are some highlights:
Asher took Santa pictures with Grandpa
Asher loved ripping open his presents
He started crawling on Christmas day!
Drew had two weeks off from work
and four weeks off from school
White Elephant Christmas exchange
Delicious food and great family company as usual :)

The week after Christmas Asher had two bottom teeth!
And Everett Alan Hines was born.
I had the amazing experience to with Tristan and Tyler
in the delivery room.

Here are some pics:

Thanksgiving 2011

This Thanksgiving we enjoyed Turkey Day in Gardnerivlle
As usual we celebrated with Turkey and
TONS of delicious food
and wonderful FAMILY!
Tyler and Tristan and Jake
Julie & Bob
Grandma Marje were all there.
Allison and John were sorely missed.

Soon after our feast we all rushed out the door
(we were running out of daylight!)
to go cut down a Christmas Tree.
It's my absolute favorite family tradition
We usually go near Merkeleeville
and I love to get out in the forrest in hunt for the perfect tree.

Asher and Jake also had fun playing

At grandmas relaxing in the foot massage machine

And we found THE perfect tree :)

A fun day for us all, except for the tree saws
that got left behind :(

Asher's First Halloween and KOLO 8 News

For Asher's first Halloween Drew and I dressed up as aliens and Asher was an astronaut.
The astronaut costume came from my sister Natasha who lives near the
NASA headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama.
We made our costumes from fabric and construction paper and styrofoam
so it was a pretty cheap get-up.

Our little family was also featured on KOLO 8 News
 (Asher is already famous!)
while shopping at Savers for low cost costumes.

We attended our church party all dressed out
and had a lot of fun enjoying the chilli and cornbread potluck.
Asher however wasn't able to stay up past 7:30pm or so
so we had to head home a early.
We still had a blast with this guy
He is so cute in his Astronaut costume :)

I am sure he will enjoy the fesitivities a bit more when he is older.
I can't wait.
