Sneak Peek!
Here's a little sneak peek at Baby #2!
Arrival expected August 24, 2013
This baby has definitely been different than Asher, but in very good ways.
Less morning sickness in general (sort of). Morning sickness started at 6-7 weeks (instead of 5 weeks) and overall was less intense. Also ended earlier around 13-14 weeks (instead of 17-18 weeks) Although I threw up most mornings in my first trimester it didn't really bother me. I was the most affected in the evening with nausea and exhaustion like I've never felt before! Asher also started have ear infections the exact week I started getting sick so I didn't get any sleep at night which exasperated the effects of early pregnancy. I don't think the timing could have been worse, but when it rains it pours, right!? That's for another post... since Asher ended up having an ear infection for 6weeks. More on that later. I'm a lot more exhausted with this pregnancy (again... toddler up all night, zapping energy during the day, and endless doctor visits were stressful to say the least) sometimes I feel like I am walking through Jello. However, no food aversions at all! How wonderful! I know Drew is especially loving the fact that I can eat burritos and BBQ sauce and other meat products throughout this pregnancy :)
Just a few of my food cravings:
BBQ chicken & ranch lettuce wraps
Chicken Nuggets
Smoothies
Yogurt
Cereal
Chocolate :)
The only unique symptom which is new with this pregnancy is extreme headaches! Ouch! Sometimes they keep me up all night, but luckily they have subsided considerably during the second trimester. Also, it's amazing how much faster I have "popped" out... yep, no stomach muscles impeding the bump at all! I feel like the bloating was esp. severe this time and I've needed maternity clothes much sooner :) Mostly my main wardrobe pieces are maxi dresses since I can't stand pants at all or anything too restricting around my waist.

| 10 week Sonogram. Last time I had a sonogram at 9weeks and it hardly looked like anything. What a difference a week makes in development :) |
Now, I'm 18 weeks along (below pic is of 12 or15 weeks along I can't even remember) and my energy is back and my sickness gone :) Now my main complaint is still ... no sleep! Since my hips ache when I sleep on my sides..and I can't sleep on my back and waking up frequently to go to the bathroom. Asher has also decided to wake up every night at 3:30am. I go in find him his pacifier (I think this might be the main problem... mothers have warned me to get rid of the pacifier earlier but I didn't listen) and then we sit in the rocking chair and cuddle and then he goes back in his crib after lots of kisses. He still gets mad when I put him down, but I'm firm about it and he usually protests for 15 sec and then goes back down. It's amazing how pregnancy prepares you for a newborn when you finally understand what sleep deprivation is. I am missing our very comfortable blue couch that I slept on during my last pregnancy :( If I had any forethought I would have kept that couch just for peaceful pregnancy sleep!
Honestly, I am scared to death of have baby #2. For many reasons really, but I remember most distinctly how difficult the first year is. Hopefully since I know what to expect a little better I will be able to focus more on enjoying the newborn phase and not worrying so much!
I will always remember how strongly I felt that this is the right time to have another baby and most recently I have had a lot of strong feelings that it will be another boy:) Although Drew and I really want a little girl, I continue to get peaceful feelings and acceptance that it is a boy so all of our name talks usually only encompass boy names. Drew thinks it's a boy too! I sure can't wait for Asher to have a sibling and a wonderful playmate.
