Last Weekend in Houston

Our last weekend in Houston finally arrived and we had a blast. Our weekend started with visiting the Museum of Natural Science which was well worth it. They had a lot of really cool exhibits and many interactive learning exhibits.

Convieniently located we were able to walk over to the Japanese Gardens in Hermann Park after walking through the museum. There were very beautiful and we saw a lot of ducks, turtles, and birds. A day in the park is no stroll in the park however and we were dripping sweat like usual before we returned to the car! It's just so hot and humid! Later that day we went out and tried a new Mexican Restaurant and the food was delicious of course! Afterwards we went to go see the new Batman, Dark Knight movie thus adding to the 155 million revenue in the box offices this weekend (an all time record). Let me say that it really is as great as all the reviews have been raving. It was intense and well done.

We also found this awesome water feature near our hotel that seemed inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. The water feature was breathtaking. It was a very packed and wonderful weekend! We are thoroughly satisfied to return home!

Almost Done

On Monday we are finally going HOME! I am so excited and overjoyed. I never thought this day would come! I am most excited to see our cats, sleep on a nice pillow, relax, watch movies, see family, and get settled in our new apartment!

This last week of work we have been auditing the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department. They have over 400 sites in operation which means we have to visit at least 10% of that. In all that means 43 sites between me, Drew, and one other reviewer. The hard thing is that the sponsor is sort of flustered with so many sites and they weren't ready with all of their documentation for us to look at. I will be so relieved to finish this sponsor.

There ARE several things that I wish we still could have seen in Houston, but Drew and I are SO excited to get out of Houston nonetheless! One of things on my to do list was to visit the Houston Temple, but it is currently under maintenance so it is closed! I was so disappointed we couldn't go through the temple, but we were still able to walk around the grounds. It is so beautiful




On the Fourth of July we celebrating by eating at Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and then went and watched the fireworks downtown. They had a lot of festivities, but it was so overcrowded and overpriced to get into the park. The Fourth of July is absolutely my favorite holiday (even over Christmas). It really doesn't get any better than this, but it was definitely a disappointment this year because we weren't with family! Here are a few Fourth of July pics in Houston.




One more day of work! This weekend we plan to go down to the museum district and visit the Museum of Natural Science or the Health Museum... we haven't decided yet.

Second Anniversary & Family Reunion

There is simply too much currently going on to possibly express!

Our 2nd anniversary was on Tuesday. We went to The Oceanaire to sample some of Houston's fresh and delightful seafood and we experienced for the first time.... fine dining. I felt.. SO out of place. Half the time we were commenting on our nice the restaurant was and half the time we were looking at each other wondering what we should do. I wasn't sure of the etiquette of such fine dining. And we weren't sure if we should take a picture at all so we only snapped one picture and decided to be happy with it. The Oceanaire offered a variety of fresh fish and an oyster bar. The menu is changed out twice a day as well as fresh fish flown in twice daily (which really makes you wonder if you're merely paying for the gas it cost to bring your food to your plate). The minimum cost per plate was about $25 to about $50. I must confess that my first ever oyster experience was excellent. Drew was certain that I wouldn't like oysters, but I was determined to try something new and keep an open mind. Although I am not certain the purpose of eating oysters I did like them. I mean you don't even chew, it just slides down the back of your throat and it vexes me that there is no savoring quality to the eating experience. It turned out to be a delicious and enlightening experience. Even though I still don't know the final price of our dinner because Drew is under the strictest orders not to let me know (or it might just haunt me for a really long time) Drew and I are glad for the experience of "schmancy pancy" dining as we call it. It was fun and delightful! I had picked up a Hershey's pie from the market and we ate our dessert at home. While we didn't go to a Bed & Breakfast, or go camping, fishing & hiking like last year... our 2nd anniversary is nonetheless memorable because of the unique experience!


We have discovered (and fought for) our last day of work in Texas which is to be July 21st. Originally they told us only 5 to 6 weeks, but when you sign a legally binding contract with CN Resource you are actually signing away your life to bondage in which the company does not consider your personal life or even asks you if you can work an extra two to three weeks like a professional company would. I can't wait to be home or to see our cats.

Thankfully my family reunion in Ouray, CO was so refreshing that it has given me such a new and positive attitude towards being out on an eternal and never-ending internship. During the reunion we stayed in some camping cabins near the river, went hiking to a most beautiful waterfall, went four bying in the luxury hummer, and went swimming in the natural springs nearly every day. It was definitely too short to satisfy me, but I was so happy to see my sisters, brother, and nieces/nephews. As I watch my nieces/nephews grow I often find myself anxious to have children. I am positive now that my children will be a good 5-10 years behind any of my sister's children because each one is completely done having any more children at this point I'm sure. I guess there's really no use in trying to catch up after all. Either the next summer or the summer after than will be my immediate family's reunion in Italy and Drew and I are starting to save. The next large family reunion for the Frost Fam is 2011 in Monticello! Enjoy a picture of our matching Frost Family Reunion 2008 T-shirts (Natasha designed them). I especially loved the sideshow my sister Natasha created. There were pictures of my grandparents, great-grandparents, and parents that I had never seen and a compilation of each family member decedent of my grandmother. It was wonderful. Colorado is the most beautiful part of the country that I have ever beheld and I earnestly pray that Drew and I can move there sometime! I will post some more pictures of our adventures as soon as Natasha will send me the ones from her camera!
